Senior Services Committee

Mission

Identify and improve services and support for Senior Citizens in the Bryte and Broderick communities.

The Committee resolves:

to collaborate with the City of West Sacramento, local non-profit and community organizations, and businesses that have the potential to assist in realizing the mission.
to identify seniors' transportation issues and advocate for options.
to increase public awareness of recreation, health, income and access issues facing senior citizens
to suggest solutions and manage projects to address these issues
to actively engage seniors in this conversation

Senior Transportation Task Force: Ride-Along (December 2011)

The City of West Sacramento Parks and Recreation Department convened the Task Force earlier this year. Members include representatives from City staff, YoloBus, City Commission on Aging, BBCAN, and senior residents of West Sacramento. For one of the first Task Force activities, committee members and invited seniors participated in a 2 1/2 hour regular route bus ride around West Sacramento. The purpose was to experience the challenges and questions that may confront first time riders. See the photos. The Task Force will continue to address senior transportation issues.
