Elkhorn/Broderick Road Rehabilitation project

The Elkhorn/Broderick Road Rehabilitation project is nearing its home stretch. The preparatory concrete and pavement repair work have finally finished. Now the re-surfacing and re-striping phase will begin on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 through the end of the month. Businesses will be notified by the contractor. Streets parking elimination will be posted on barricades 48 to 72 hours in advance. Please help ask your neighbors and colleagues to obey posted parking restrictions and street closures.

This phase of re-surfacing may be a one or two step process depending on the roadway condition. For example, the recently repaired western portion of Cummins Way will receive only slurry seal. Rougher streets like Sacramento Avenue will receive chip seal and slurry seal. Streets receiving the chip seal may be re-opened to traffic almost immediately following the operation. Street receiving slurry will need to remain closed for approximately 4-6 hours. See location maps.

Thank you again for patience and cooperation throughout this project. Questions: (916) 617-4850 or vinc@cityofwestsacramento.org

Constitution Day

There is a national movement to change from celebrating Patriots Day to Constitution Day on September 17. Constitution Day commemorates the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution by thirty-nine men on September 17, 1787. It is suggested that businesses and schools read it in the workplace and classroom. Families are encouraged to read it together. More information: www.constitutionday.com/.
