December 31 Where can you watch fireworks on New Years Eve?
Two free fireworks shows are set for Friday in Old Sacramento.
The first show is at 9 p.m. and is tailored for children. The early show will last more than 10 minutes.
At midnight, the main event will last nearly 15 minutes and fireworks will launch from both land and the Tower Bridge.
Both shows can be seen and heard from Riverwalk Park and all along the West Sacramento waterfront

January 8 Board of Education Town Hall MeetingThe Board of Education for the Washington Unified School District will host a special town hall workshop to discuss district goals and board initiatives. The public is invited. 8am to 10am at River City High School.
January 8 Girls softball signup begins
Signup for West Sacramento Girls Softball League. $120 per player. $140 after Feb 13. More information: 492-6123
January 9 and 10 Open Auditions for Community Theater
West Sac Community Theater open auditions: "Picasso at Lapin Agile" by Steve Martin. The play will be presented the last two weekends in March and the first weekend in April, 2011. See more information about the auditions or if you would like to volunteer in any capacity.
January 20 Athletes of West Sacramento Exhibit
The West Sacramento Historical Society partnered with the City of West Sacramento, Parks and Recreation Department and The Photo Documentation Project to collect and develop photographs of athletes who achieved success in their sport and also to recognize people who helped the athletes succeed.
A showing of these photographs will be exhibited at 5:PM at the Parks and Recreation Center, 2801 Jefferson Blvd. West Sacramento. The community is invited to attend this showing. This is a joint event that will coincide with the 2nd anniversary celebration of the Rec Center

West Sacramento Little League 2011 Season
Online registration for the 2011 Little League season is now open on the West Sacramento Little League Web site. Note that there are some changes for the new season regarding registration and tryout information.
Managers and Volunteers wanted
Do you have experience coaching youth baseball or know the game well? Do you want to manage a West Sacramento Little League team and make a difference in a child's life? If you wish to be a manager, West Sac Little League is currently accepting applications for the 2011 season. A Managers Application and a Volunteer Application must be turned in with a copy of your drivers license.This may be given to ANY board member, e-mailed to westsacll@gmail.com or mailed to the League mailing address: P.O. Box 155, West Sacramento, CA 95691.
Also, all adults having contact with the players MUST fill out a Volunteer Application and submit it along with a copy of their Drivers License.All will undergo a Criminal Background check as well.
