The Yolo County Master Gardeners of West Sacramento are back. Here is their Schedule of Classes for Bryte Park .

This 2010 season classes commenced with a Rose Pruning Clinic at Bryte Park in January. If you missed that class, one can still learn from the result of their excellent work by studying the Roses pruned at Bryte Park at the corner of Todhunter and Carrie Streets.

Dates and location:
Saturdays from 9 - 11 A.M through June 2010 (special time for March 20th class).
Location: Bryte Park Picnic Table Area


Four of the Yolo County Master Gardeners of West Sacramento [L to R ] Diane Rake (2009 Yolo County Master Gardener of the Year), Henry Garcia-Alvarez, Don Rake , Delbert Giese.

  • March 13th- Vegetable and Culinary Herb Gardening will be presented by Peg Smith and Henry Garcia-Alvarez. Peg will present her 20 years of wisdom and experience successfully growing vegetables in Yolo County and Henry will present information about the culinary herbs that grow best in our area.
  • March 20- Mae Denman will present a nutrition class starting at [special time] 12:15 noon. Bring your bag lunch to learn the nutritional and energetic values in the meal you are eating.
  • April 3- Water and Irrigation and Composting will be presented.
  • April 10- Insects and Weed Control will be presented .
  • April 17- Care of Fruit and Landscape trees will be introduced.
  • June 22- Sustainable Landscapes Techniques will be introduced.

BBCAN City of Gardens Committee Goals:

To create a Community Garden where :
  • people gather to grow their own food on small plots of land in close proximity of each other
  • people enthusiastically maintain a beautiful, safe, clean gardening environment - appropriate in a City Park location
  • the general rules and regulations are governed by common sense and by common courtesy
  • the participating gardeners build community through garden work-teams
  • all members participate with the will to do good and do good will in the community garden
